Prior to joining a class at Equilibrium, my image of Pilates was simply working out on those big, crazy machines with bands. The classroom setting is essentially like a Yoga class with up-tempo music. Nancy is a very energetic instructor and is right there with us, working out from the beginning to the end of class. I also love the 5 minute workout at the end of class, where we put Pilates moves to a song. Nancy is nothing but encouraging throughout the 45 minute session. Integrating machines, floor and functional exercises, as well as plyometrics will present you with the ultimate challenge.

Thai Massage
This one hour massage is sometimes referred to as "Lazy man's yoga", because the therapist is supporting the client in stretches that are yoga poses. The client will experience benefits from poses that would be difficult to achieve unassisted, because it can take years to develop the required strength, balance and flexibility. The massage is done on a mat, in a warm room with aromatherapy to enhance the meditative experience.

In 2007 I ran the Chicago Marathon. Conditions were horrible and I was disappointed with my time. I re-ran the race in 2009. My goal was to break the 4 hour mark. Based upon my skill level, this was a somewhat aggressive goal. Marcin prepared a detailed training schedule to help me achieve my goal. It wasn't easy - but the humorous comments Marcin made in my log book were amusing. The most important point is that I followed 90% of his instructions and finished the race in 3:59:11. This was a huge accomplishment for me at age 48! Marcin was also great about tailoring the workout schedule to fit within my busy life. Peter, who is my personal trainer at Equilibrium, was indispensable in helping me follow through on the training program by assisting me with strength training, core training and general fitness advice.
I recently registered for the half ironman taking place in Racine, Wisconsin in July. Marcin once again prepared a detailed training program for me.
Custom Runner &
Triathlon Regiments
We design customized programs for any event from a 5k distance race or sprint triathlon to a marathon or an Ironman distance triathlon. We'll take the number of months before the race and break it down into weeks, and the appropriate number of days per week. Each day will be broken down into segments of specific mileage, pace or drills, all depending on your current fitness level, time you have to train, and of course the type of event you're preparing for.
